Stage 02Medicine

The center

Sanin Mai is a therapeutic vegetalista center with twelve years of experience guiding healing with ayahuasca and the medicinal plants of the Amazon rainforest.

Our purpose is to accompany each person through their healing, bringing concrete and profound change into everyday life.

We are also a school: we teach our guests to know plant medicine and use it in their daily lives, so the healing continues after the retreat.

Mother ayahuasca

01Mother ayahuasca

Ayahuasca ceremony

A sacred and therapeutic tool for working with deep traumas that sustain recurring suffering. Mother ayahuasca lets the unconscious surface into awareness, helping us understand how to respond and live better.

She guides us along a path of spiritual opening and self-discovery. During the vegetalista retreat, ayahuasca is taken once the plant diets are complete.

Ángel José López Ramos
Stage 07Medicine

The healer

Ángel José López Ramos“Sani Meni” in Shipibo

Ángel was born into the Shipibo Conibo people and trained as a primary-school teacher. But the path of the plants called him in a deep and unexpected way.

After being healed by his mother's medicine, he left everything behind to devote himself to his people's ancestral knowledge. Years of diets followed: isolation, silence and communion with the spirit of each plant to learn from it.

Read his story

“There was a time when I was very unwell, mentally and physically. Then my mother, the healer Ida Ramos Huayta, reached out, healed me with the plants and showed me the way.”

Stage 08Medicine

Your retreat

  1. Preparation: A week before, you begin a gentle diet: no pork, alcohol or drugs, little salt and sugar. A time to look inward and clarify your intention.
  2. Arrival: We pick you up in Contamana and bring you to the center. From there, the jungle sets the pace.
  3. Purge: Purgative plants cleanse body and energy, preparing the ground for the deeper work.
  4. Diet: Master plants and supporting plants, with plant and steam baths, in silence and with simple food.
  5. Ceremony: Once the plant diets are complete come the ayahuasca ceremonies, guided with icaros by Sani Meni.
  6. Integration: Therapeutic sessions to make sense of what you lived and bring the medicine into daily life. Forgive yourself, let go and live from your purpose.
